Built in 1803 and originally know as The Charles Taylor House, this historic home was restored by a local builder with a penchant for preservation. Capitalizing on the large plot of land, the entire structure was moved 60 feet back from its original location close to the road. The resulting home integrates the best of the old world and new, while highlighting the large windows, high ceilings and exposed beams that hold true to the original character of the home, all of which earned the home the Westport Historic District Commission 2015 Preservation Award.
A young family of four fell in love with the history as they planned to relocate from the city to the suburbs, and we focused on devising a plan that would allow them to utilize the space as a growing family in a manner that complimented the home's unique charm. Playful kid's bedrooms, custom furnishings, and notes of color allowed them to begin creating a history of their very own. The project was completed in six short months.
